During our work we often meet the unfortunate case of people distributing counterfeit products on websites which were originally founded for exchanging second hand, bored or wrong sized items.

The hits of the winter have been various ski clothes. Among the counterfeits there have been Spyder, Columbia, Rossignol and Killy ski clothes, too. These products have been offered at third or at quarter of the market price.

The advertising texts of the products have been diverse: some of them claimed that the product were original, but they had fallen from the truck or the products had been directly from the factory or they had been only wrong sized, second class stuff or it had been not required paying for the advertisment and marketing.

These people are selling not only counterfeit products of bad quality but they deceive the costumers as well, because the costumers do not know what they will get for their money.

However, in our case the costumer is convinced of buying an original product, which is moreover cheap. But is it cheap really? The products are at third the price of the original but the triple of the price of the products at the Chinese markets in Budapest. And the problem is that in many cases the quality of these counterfeits do not differ from the quality of the products of the Chinese markets.

According to our experience, often neither the salesmen know what they are selling, they are sometimes deceived too, just like their costumers. However, we should not feel sorry for them: by selling the products they usually do not issue proper bills, and although they offer a guarantee, in many cases the products can not be tested before buying them.

However, we must make absolutely clear that the rightowners of the well-known brands do not distribute their products through product-exchanging websites, neither directly from the factory, they do not sell neither wrongsized products, nor products with other failures, and it seems obvious that the clothes do not fall from trucks by the dozen of cartons. And yet, if these statements are true, then we must know that the Criminal Code does punish the theft and hording of stolen goods.
